The problem

Many owners choose a bookkeeper on someone’s recommendation. That works until something goes wrong, and then five problems show up. Prices are not published, so three quotes cannot be compared. The books are not transparent: the owner cannot log into their own file. The numbers lag: books done once a year before the tax deadline cannot guide a decision. Language is a barrier: owners who work in Chinese rely on referrals and cannot check what they are told. And fees do not match needs: some pay every month for work they could do in twenty minutes, while others should have handed it over long ago.

What I built

  • A self-serve system: 38 guides to starting a business and keeping its books, each checked against official sources, so an owner can do their own books by following them. Owners who can do it themselves need not pay; those who cannot, hand it over. This answers the mismatch between fees and needs.
  • A published pricing page: three monthly plans and what each includes, with no need to ask for a quote. This answers unpublished prices.
  • File ownership and a monthly deliverables list, stated on the page: the accounting file is registered in the client’s name, and the client can sign in at any time. This answers books that are not transparent.
  • A fixed monthly rhythm: the reports for each month are delivered by the 15th of the next. This answers numbers that lag.
  • The whole site in English and Chinese with matching content, and 16 types of letter from the Canada Revenue Agency explained one by one, each with its reply deadline. This answers the language barrier.
  • A pipeline that keeps the content reliable. An AI model drafts English and Chinese summaries of 41 Tax Court of Canada decisions; a second pass checks each draft against the source; drafts that pass are published and the rest go to a person. Pages with fast-changing facts are rechecked on a calendar.
